About Us

Our Story

Civic Soul was born from a friendship rooted in service.

Co-founders Leah Fredkin and Caitlin Stamos met on a volunteer trip to Tijuana, where they experienced the deep joy that comes from showing up for others. That day planted a seed: the desire to build something lasting—where service is personal, joyful, and deeply human.

Civic Soul brings people together through one-day volunteer experiences that foster connection, compassion, and meaningful impact. Each experience highlights a different cause and gives volunteers a meaningful way to show up and make a difference—from graduation celebrations for foster youth, to housewarmings for fire survivors, to holiday parties for farm workers.

We’re proudly non-political, non-religious, and radically welcoming. Our mission is simple: to make giving back easy, meaningful, and human.

What We Believe

  • That kindness and shared humanity can change lives

  • That service should feel joyful, not transactional

  • That overlooked nonprofits deserve to be seen and supported

  • That real impact starts with showing up

  • That everyone has something to give

Our Vision

We envision a world where service is a way of life—where acts of compassion connect us, bridge divides, and strengthen communities from the inside out.
